iPhone emailing

We do not guarantee this will work for you It all depend on how your Web Host provider has setup the incoming mail server. Iphone Setup for eMail: – On your iPhone goto: 1.       Settingsa 2.       Mail,Contacts,Calendars 3.       Add Account… 4.       Other 5.       Add mail account

a.       Name: Your Nameb.       Address: you@youraddress.com.auc.        Password: (whatever it is)d.       Description: (Leave as is)

6.       “Save” 7.       Set “POP” 8.       Incoming Mail Server Setting: a.       Hostname: mail.yourdomain.com.au (Ask your hosting provider) b.       Username: you@youraddress.com.au c.        Password: (Whatever it is) 9.       Outgoing Mail Server: a.       Hostname: mail.yourISP.com.au – (This is who the phone bills come from? Or click “Outgoing mail server” link b.       Username: (leave blank) c.        Password: (leave blank) 10.    Now… it goes off for a long time thinking……….. so be patient. 11.    If asked to continue without SSL – say “No” (rather than cancel) 12.    It should connect and activate the account. It’ll either work or not. Hopefully you won’t need this… but other setting I have is: ·         Server Port 995   Now for you to get emails you cannot have your email client on your computer delete the files after downloading… else the emails are delivered there first and then deleted from the server. In which case they will never make it to your phone. So the idea is that to receive emails on the phone when you’re not around your computer, your email client (outlook or Mac Mail) should be Configured to leave them there for 1-2 days. 1.       Goto Outlook on you Laptop/PC 2.       Depending on what version you are running… I’ll assume 2007 3.       Goto Tools menu 4.       Account Settings 5.       Select your email account –hopefully it’s the only one there – Double click on it to open it 6.       Choose “More Settings” Button 7.       Choose “Advanced” Tab   8.       Check “Leave a copy of messages on the server 9.       Check Remove from Server after 2 days. – a.       This stops server from clogging up and bouncing emails back to senders 10.   Click ok   Then, on your iphone, you’ve got to setup all your Mail preferences and that account as the Default account in “Mail, Contacts,Calendar” screen. 1.       Fetch New Data 2.       Push = “on” – This leaves the email item on the server and only send a “copy” to your phone. a)      This ensures an email goes to the PC/Laptop as well 3.       Your choice of hourly, 30 mins, 15mins, or Manually. I’ve gone with Hourly. 4.       Then backout to “Mail, Contacts,Calendar” screen again. 5.       Signature…. 6.       Make a little signature. a)      Signature and say it’s from iPhone so people understand the shortness of your responses.   To test… send yourself an email. Open iphone mail…. It’ll go looking and hopefully “hey presto!”   Good luck.
